Identification and sensing technologies

In this video from the University of Twente learn about identification and sensing technologies in transport industries.

In this video various sensing and identification technologies and their application in the logistics and transport industries will be presented.

Barcode is a commonly used method for identification. This method needs visual contact. Another technology is a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID). It does not need any direct contact between the tag and the reader. A more recent technology is Near Field Communication (NFC).

In addition to identification, sensing is also very important. There is the idea of a smart dust, a network of tiny sensors, robots, or devices installed with wireless communications that can detect anything from light and temperature to vibration and et cetera.
