Skip to 0 minutes and 4 seconds TINA OVERTON: We’ve designed this course to be accessible for absolutely everyone. Some of you will have no previous science knowledge at all, and some of you will be quite expert. But we hope that you can come together as a community of learners to share your experiences, your expertise, and any resources that you come across.
Skip to 0 minutes and 21 seconds JASMINA LAZENDIC-GALLOWAY: You’re welcome to go through the course at your own pace. But we think it’s best to go week by week with all the learners together so that we can provide weekly feedback and you can share your own knowledge and experience.
Skip to 0 minutes and 33 seconds TINA OVERTON: At the end of this course, we hope that you finish with a real enthusiasm for science.
Skip to 0 minutes and 38 seconds JASMINA LAZENDIC-GALLOWAY: And we hope you realise that no matter what challenges humanity faces, the fact that we can break them down into solvable components is what makes science great.
Watch Tina and Jasmina talk about the philosophy of the course.
We created sub-topics within each week’s topic, and we encourage you to complete these sub-topics (usually with 3-4 steps) before engaging in a discussion with us and other learners, as steps are fairly short and might not contain all the information needed to understand the concept.
To guide you, you will see “Reflect and connect” steps throughout, with “Talking point” prompts to help us keep discussion focused and well organised.
