We will begin by exploring the evidence for climate change and its effects on our food production system. Worryingly, these threats include food safety challenges which originate from the novelty of climate-induced issues. For example, the introduction of new pest species and the unfamiliarity to farmers with their management and control. Together, we will take a closer look at the impact of climate change on soil, water, plant, and animal health before discussing our thoughts on how this actor should move forward.

Welcome to week 4. The aim of this week is to learn about climate change and how it is predicted to impact upon global food security over the next few decades.

Throughout this week we will look at the evidence for climate change and examine the potential effects climate change will have on food production. We will also explore the different scientific approaches and mitigation measures available to counteract the undesirable consequences global food security.
