Computing for younger pupils and children with special needs
Many teachers have asked for resources that are aimed at children with special needs or younger pupils. There are some significant challenges in teaching computing to children who find the mouse and keyboard inhibiting. However there are many coding environments which can be run from an iPad such as Scratch Jr, the Bee-Bot app, Hopscotch and the more advanced Tynker app. The touch screen and drag and drop interfaces make accessing simple coding activities much easier.
In addition, the Computing at School Barefoot project provides a range of lesson ideas and resources for younger children and is developing a special area for SEN resources.
