Reflecting on your learning

Well done on reaching the end of the course and this final step which will help you consolidate your professional learning. This week you have:

  • Explored tools for remote learning
  • Discussed how to support parents in engaging their children with learning
  • Planned to support talking and questioning for learning
  • Looked at a range of enquiry skills to embed in home learning

Reflection grid

Now is a great time to fill in your reflection grid for this week.

Over the course you’ve looked at the link between asynchronous and synchronous activities and learning spaces, the role you, your students and parents will play, and the decisions you need to make to be realistic about expectations.

In this final step, we recommend you complete the self-audit task for this course. Along with your reflection grids, the self-audit acts as a record of your learning.

Self-audit of your development

  1. Access the self-audit task and complete it.
  2. At the end of the survey, click My responses.
  3. Click Download as PDF.
  4. Save the PDF where you will be able to refer back as a record of your professional development.

GDPR statement: STEM Learning will be the data controller for any personal data submitted, not FutureLearn. Choosing not to complete the self-audit does not affect your course completion status on FutureLearn. Further details on the opening page of the self-audit task.

Recognition from STEM Learning

If you have successfully completed the course and earned a certificate (either through upgrading or perhaps you have an Unlimited subscription), you can get recognition from STEM Learning for your professional development on this course. STEM Certificates digital badges give you a place to present your CPD with STEM Learning, showing the outcomes of courses and time spent on your professional development. Simply send a digital copy of your FutureLearn certificate as proof of completion to awards@stem.org.uk. You will need a free STEM Learning account before you submit proof of completion.

Continuing your professional development with STEM Learning

During the Covid-19 lock down, STEM Learning continues to provide its online courses through FutureLearn with our distinct approach. We also have a number of remote CPD courses offering synchronous facilitator-led sessions.

To go further with the pedagogical concepts introduced in this course, take part in our Introducing Assessment for Learning and Planning for Learning courses, led by Dylan Wiliam, Chris Harrison and Andrea Mapplebeck. To develop your understanding of the enquiry types in primary science, join Karen Brunyee, Sarah Dagnell and Tanya Shields on Teaching Primary Science: Getting Started.

We look forward to you taking part in professional development with us again.
