Some common barriers

As you have discussed in the previous step there are many barriers which teachers may face when considering carrying out a practical science lesson.

Here are some of the most common ones:

  • Lack of resources
  • Lack of time
  • Lack of teacher confidence
  • Concerns over children’s behaviour
  • Lack of subject knowledge
  • Class size

You will discover some ideas to help overcome some of these barriers in the following steps. In particular we focus on resourcing and managing children’s behaviour.
