Introduction to Week 5

Introduction to Week 5

So far, in weeks 1 to 4, we have been thinking, primarily, about individual minds; although we have thought from time to time about how our beliefs, preferences and actions influence each other.

But, from now on, the focus is going to shift to thinking about how we coordinate our behaviour. Human societies do not consist of independent individuals separately wandering the globe and pursuing their own ends. Instead, we are able to engage in extremely complicated interactions with each other (this will be our focus this week), and also create languages, culture, and a society of spectacular and baffling sophistication, which helps coordinate our collective behaviour (this will be our focus next time).

I hope you enjoy it!
