Welcome to Week 2. This week in thermodynamics of energy engineering, we are still talking about the first law of thermodynamics, but we are going be looking at its application to real problem solving.
Many exrcises for the calculation of energy changes upon temperature change are presented. We are also going to be looking at the enthalpy changes in chemical reactions. For convenience in calculation, people defined a reference state and assign zero enthalpy for it. It gets easier to calculate the enthalpy change in the process with the concept of the reference state.
