This informative, five-week course is based on the latest research into how adults learn. It offers evidence-based methods and techniques that participants can use to ensure learning genuinely takes place and is transferred to practice. On the course, you’ll explore a diverse toolkit of proven techniques; each of which is modelled as the course progresses. The course introduces the selection and blending of methods and delivery routes to optimise the transfer of learning to practice. Improve your planning, design and delivery skills on your journey to becoming an expert trainer by understanding teaching techniques, assessment and the motivation of learners and gain practical advice on dealing with nerves and unexpected challenges when training. By the end of the course, you’ll be able to cause learning to happen by incorporating training techniques which ensure that learning lasts.

Skip to 0 minutes and 6 seconds If you’ve ever thought there must be a better way to deliver learning than reading aloud from PowerPoint or page-clicking eLearning, there is! Train the Healthcare Trainer will provide you with the latest evidence-based methods for planning, delivering and assessing training. This 5 week course has been designed for anyone who teaches or trains in the Health Services, and will be particularly beneficial for those new to the role. It’s validated by Health Education England and is at Level 3. That’s the same level as the short FE College course that used to be known as PTLLS.

Skip to 0 minutes and 40 seconds But there’s a big difference: Train the Healthcare Trainer includes Simulation training and eLearning. In fact, all the content has been carefully aligned to the needs of today’s healthcare professional. We begin with an understanding of how adults learn, and then build on this foundation. You’ll learn how the best teaching techniques create lasting changes in knowledge and skills; and you’ll discover why poor methods can result in learning evaporating within days. There’s a wealth of proven training techniques to explore on the course. You’ll experience videos which show real trainers demonstrating best practice with their learners. You’ll share ideas and experiences with fellow course members.

Skip to 1 minute and 23 seconds As you progress through the course, you’ll develop confidence that the learning you provide will stick, be appreciated, and most importantly, be transferred to practice. If you’d like to discover a world of teaching and training beyond PowerPoint text, and become a trainer and designer who is both appreciated by learners and is really effective, join us on Train the Healthcare Trainer. We look forward to meeting you!
