An introduction to the training cycle

As shown in the image below, the training cycle is a cyclical process, with each stage leading to the next with no fixed end point.

Image of the training cycle, consisting of four stages. It starts with identifying the training needs, to designing the training, to delivering the training and then evaluating the training.

The development of a training programme flows from the identification of training needs, to the design, delivery and evaluation of the training programme.

When repeating the training, the evaluation from programme one would inform programme two, therefore changing the delivery (Steptoe-Warren 2013).
