Are you ready to become a rocket scientist of Wall Street?

Welcome to Introduction to Quantitative Investing!

I am excited to have so many students from many places in the world. I put together materials to guide you to become a rocket scientist of Wall Street. It sounds very complicated but it is not. Don’t worry! We will guide you through the very first course in quantitative investing. About the course This is a six week long course in which you should expect to spend about 3 hours per week. We will cover the following topics during six weeks. 1. Understanding investment return and risk 2. Deciding how much your wealth will go to investment vs. saving 3. Deciding how much and what to invest To answer these questions, we will use scientific methods – data analysis and computer programming. Repeating what we show you in videos will give you a great opportunity to master the course and excel beyond the course. Remember that the course should not be hard but it requires some practice. Each week, you will have the following material. 1. Articles – we will give you short articles on related topics. Articles will cover mostly real-life examples and stories. They will be short. But, upon reading them, you will have enough idea to find some more resources from internet if the topic interests you. 2. Instructional videos – I will give you two short lectures. Remember I only intend to guide your study. So, you will have to study by yourself after videos. 3. R scripts – while you are watching our videos, you will learn how to write R-programming script. We also provide you our script so that you can refer to it while you are practicing. 4. Notes – Notes will contain more detailed description of mathematics and statistics. 5. Data sets – you will learn how to download and save data in csv file format. However, we also provide the data sets that we have used for R programing. 6. Quiz – finally, you will have a quiz to check your understanding of the topics you have studied. Some useful sources Throughout the course, we will use programming language R.
