Skip to 0 minutes and 15 secondsWIENDELT STEENBERGEN: Welcome to the course, "Ultrasound Imaging, What's Inside?" In this course, experts will present to you practical applications and pitfalls of ultrasound imaging in medicine. And we will cover the theoretical and technical foundation of ultrasound imaging. Applications of ultrasound and the pitfalls and complications are shown by our experts in week one. You'll see examples from physiotherapy and obstetrics, radiology, the intensive care, and the vascular lab. All the experts will present a case, and every case involves some form of technical issue that they encounter in their daily practise. And you will be asked right away to think about these issues and give us your ideas. And it's perfectly OK, if you're not able to solve these issues yet.
Skip to 1 minute and 15 secondsIn weeks two to four, I will teach you about the basic physics and technologies that make ultrasound imaging possible. In the final two weeks of the course, our experts will revisit their issues with you. By then, you'll have a better understanding of the technology and physics of ultrasound imaging. So obviously, we expect you to be able to solve the ultrasound imaging issues. I hope you will enjoy the course and to learn about the medical and technological aspects of ultrasound imaging. I'm sure that by the end of these six weeks, you'll be able to merge your medical and technical knowledge into a better understanding. And I'm sure that you are able to improve the practical applications of ultrasound imaging.
Welcome to the course
Welcome to the course ‘Ultrasound Imaging: What is Inside?’. Our lead educator Wiendelt Steenbergen introduces the course and the topics we will present to you.
As explained before, we cover both the medical and technical perspective in this course, as well as the integration of these perspectives. You may already have prior knowledge from one of these perspectives. Therefore, it is also possible to only go through the medical or technical weeks from the course. However, you will gain a more holistic experience if all weeks are completed.
The structure of the course is depicted in the following image. For the final technical medical perspective, prior completion of the previous weeks is recommended.
