Welcome to week 4

This week we will focus on how the bowel works and what normal bowel function is. You will explore the causes of faecal incontinence and different types of bowel dysfunction.

In this video, Janice Reid, Clinical Lead, Western Trust Continence Advisory Services, Northern Ireland, welcomes you to week 4.

We start this week with the anatomy and physiology of the bowel and then move on to look at the causes of faecal incontinence.

You’ll also learn about the different types and causes of bowel dysfunction that people commonly experience.

We introduce you to a case study Jim who has faecal incontinence.
