Video review of Week 5

Freddie’s video this week is filmed in a surprise location and he invites everyone to do some reading to work out where he could be. Watch the video then post a comment below with your guess!

This week’s focus has been on reading and Freddie mentions a comment from Emma Evans about finding more challenging reading texts. He recommends the interesting texts on the BBC Science and Environment Stories page and suggests looking at David’s reply to Sano Sano about challenging yourself when reading.

Guessing meaning is one the challenges on the IELTS test and Freddie recommends reading this advice and playing this game (scroll down a bit to find it) to help you. He also mentions Alister’s post about time management.

He talks about Mohammed Mamedov’s comment on skimming and scanning and suggests finding out more about skimming, scanning and reading in detail. This video provides tips on the Reading test too. Also, check out Alister’s explanation of the ‘Helium is a cold substance’ answer.

Freddie finishes by thanking everyone who has taken part on the course this week and encourages you all to keep going!
