Colour as a storyteller

Ciclope follows the journey of a delivery drone through a diverse range of vast and colourful settings and landscapes - any of which you could use as a stimulus for your students’ writing.

As we saw in 2.5 and 2.6, the role of colour in film and texts goes beyond pure aesthetics. Bjørn-Erik Aschim, writer and director of Ciclope, explained in an interview that the intention was for colour, along with shapes and tones, to “tell the story”.

You can access and watch the full-length film in the course’s Vimeo playlist, using the password: TeachLiteracy

We’d love to hear how you might use Ciclope in your own Literacy lessons.

Which scenes from Ciclope would work well as a writing stimulus for your class? Why?

Can you think of other ways you might use this film to develop your pupils’ literacy skills?
