Skip to 0 minutes and 8 seconds If you’re going out volunteering, be very aware there’s a thing called compassion fatigue. And there’s also a thing called secondary trauma, where actually sometimes the stories you hear affect you really badly and you’re going around pretending everything’s OK. So you need to look after your own health and well-being. You need to make sure you talk it out with somebody if you’re feeling like that. But equally that might not happen to you. You might just have a very normal English language teaching experience and a fun time with a group of people who maybe don’t want the label refugees, just want the label learners.

Preview of Week 2
