Whether your presentation is delivered in an educational or a professional setting, it’s important that your talk is well organised, clear and interesting.

In this first short course, we will establish the key features of an effective presentation by analysing a sample video talk. We’ll focus on the structure of presentations, language, delivery techniques, body language and how to deal with nerves.

This week you will:

  • Discuss the features of a great presentation
  • Develop techniques to improve your presentation skills
  • Evaluate a variety of techniques and strategies for presentations

Meet the team

Your lead educators on the course are Andrew Preshous, a senior lecturer of Academic English, and Zahra Shaygan, an associate lecturer of Strategy and Leadership in the Faculty of Business & Law.

Track your progress

When you reach the end of a step and have understood everything, select the mark as complete button. This will update your progress page and will help you keep track of which steps you’ve done. Steps you’ve completed will turn blue on your to-do list.

You can check your progress page by selecting the icon at the top of the step. There you’ll see what percentage of the course steps you’ve marked as complete.

Your task

Introduce yourself to your fellow learners and share which area you feel you need to focus on most to improve your presentation skills.
