The importance of adolescent health has been increasing over the past decade. Currently the top five global causes of death in older adolescents (15-19 years) are:

  1. Road Injury
  2. Self-harm
  3. HIV/ AIDS
  4. Interpersonal violence
  5. Drowning

In the next step we’ll consider the impact of these health problems, otherwise known as the burden of disease, specifically relating to adolescents.
