Video review of Week 1

David, your Lead educator has made a short video summarising the main points from this week.

David starts by mentioning some of the countries which are being represented in the course. He talks about Anastasia’s comment on talking to foreigners and all the wonderful replies it received. This comment from Tatiana shares her thoughts on special interest groups on the internet when looking for a job and Wafaa, like many of you, said that he found his job through family and friends.

He then goes on to talk about writing CV’s and cover letters. Here are some extra links on CV’s from Oxford Dictionaries - writing a CV, Kent University - CV and Covering Letters and Kent University - good and bad CVs.

Finally he reminds you that if you didn’t manage to join the Live Event which was held earlier in the week that you can still catch up with it on Step 1.3.

If you have any comments or questions, let us know in the comments below.

Coming up in Week 2
Next week we’ll look at what happens once your job application is successful and you’re invited to interview. We’ll talk in detail about how to prepare for interviews and how to perform in them. If you want to get started straight away, go to the To do list for Week 2.

You can always use the To do icon at the top of the page to see what’s coming up or go back to previous weeks and catch up.

If you haven’t completed every step by the end of the final week, don’t worry! The course will remain open to you so that you can carry on at your own speed.
