The Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) provides the opportunity to develop your craft in the classroom.
On this school-based teacher training course, you can enjoy the flexibility of online learning alongside practical in-school experience, as you study and train while working in a school.
You’ll be encouraged to apply a variety of teaching theories and methods to help develop your own teaching approach.
You’ll have the opportunity to build confidence and harness your ability to transfer knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to your pupils.
Prior experience of teaching in schools is not a prerequisite for this course.
To gain entry to the course, you must:
- Have achieved a standard equivalent to a Grade-4 (C grade) GCSE in English and Mathematics. For those training to teach pupils aged 3-11, a Grade-4 (C grade) in a Science subject is also required
- Hold an undergraduate degree, or equivalent as assessed by NARIC
- Have taken part in a rigorous selection process to assess your suitability to train to teach, and undergone suitable background checks with regard to the Keeping Children Safe in Education statutory guidance, including enhanced DBS check
Applicants whose first language is not English should have an IELTS of 6.5 overall.
##How much will it cost?
