Introduction

Introduction
Water is a precondition to life on Earth and essential for a sustainable socioeconomic development, food security, and healthy ecosystems. The growing population, the demographic changes, massive urbanisation trends and climate change, among other factors, are increasing pressure over the available water resources. This MOOC has as main learning outcomes to: (1) analyse and evaluate processes in the (urban) water management related to water scarcity, (2) describe water infrastructure that can alleviate water scarcity, and (3) make preliminary calculations for dimensioning these infrastructures. The MOOC consists of an introduction module and three additional modules: 1) water reuse in agriculture, 2) urban water management, and the role of nature-based solutions, and 3) water efficiency in the manufacturing industries. Each module contains knowledge clips, quizzes, and graded assignments. This MOOC is the result of a joint action between EIT Climate-KIC, EIT Digital, EIT Food, EIT Manufacturing, Athena Research Centre, BioAzul and TU Delft in the framework of the EIT Community Water Scarcity, in which all these entities joint forces to face the real challenges around water scarcity. The objective of this programme is to enhance knowledge and overcome current barriers to tackle water scarcity in Southern Europe through innovation, entrepreneurship, education and communication.
