Educators for the Week - Dimitri Beeckman and Steven Smet
6.4
So my name is Dimitri Beeckman. I’m a professor of nursing at Ghent University in Belgium. I’m specialised in pressure injury prevention, skin tears, incontinence-associated dermatitis. I have a specific interest in implementation science, and it’s also my contribution to one of the chapters of this e-learning tool. I will go collaborate with a very experienced tissue viability nurse who is leading the wound care team at Ghent University. And in our chapter, we will discuss several cases suffering from infections and how to deal with them in clinical practice. Hello, everyone. I’m Steven Smet. I work in Ghent University Hospital in Belgium, and I’m a clinical nurse specialist in wound care.

In this third week, I will present you two cases that we will try to discuss based on the theory already you got in week one and week two. Professor Dimitri Beeckman will first introduce you to some implementation science and implementation techniques that, afterwards, we will try to put in practice based on these two cases. Please use the discussion chapters because, as you will see, implementing the theory into practice is not always that easy. I hope you have a very interesting third week, and probably, we will meet in a discussion chapter.

In this video, Professor Dimitri Beeckman and Steven Smet introduce themselves. They will guide you through the topics of week 3 and will cover the following main areas:
