It is important to note that this course deals with topics and themes such as racism, racial slurs, and violence that may be distressing or re-traumatizing to some. It is important that you are aware of your limits when confronting the course content and manage your participation accordingly.

It is our wish that you would be critical of your emotional responses to the content. Discomfort at the themes and topics discussed in this course is a natural and reasonable response to the reality this course confronts. The content and discussion in this course will necessarily engage with racism every week. Much of it will be emotionally and intellectually challenging to engage with. We will flag especially graphic or intense content and will do our best to make this course a space where we can engage bravely, empathetically, and thoughtfully with difficult content every week.
