In this video, Professor discusses the transformation of ginseng over time, once primarily wild-crafted in extensive forests, now cultivated in fields under shade cloth. The historical geographic regions for high-quality ginseng shifted due to over-collection and environmental damage, leading to the extinction of ginseng in certain areas. The transition from wild to cultivated resources, particularly during the Ming Dynasty, made ginseng scarce and expensive. Modern cultivation methods have made ginseng widely available, with the last remaining wild ginseng found around Changbai Mountain, preserved as a private collection reserve during the Qing Empire.

But the medicinal value of wild ginseng is several times more expensive than that of planted ginseng, depending on the year of growth. Ginseng drink is also very famous in Korea. Ginseng are used to strengthen the immune system, but ther are also many taboos in Ginsang: Limit to 2 grams per day, no drinks, tea, coffee, white radish, spicy food while taking ginsengm. Last, it is highly not recommended while you are catching cold.
