The Dynamics 365 Apps

Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform

In the previous step, we went through an overview of the Power Platforms. In this step, we’ll discuss The Dynamics 365 Apps.

Microsoft Dynamics is a portfolio of business applications or apps. These apps cover the many and ever-changing needs of businesses of any size. Additionally, there are offerings for AI (artificial intelligence or insights) and for Mixed Reality to work side-by-side with these business applications.

Dynamics 365 Business Central is a business management solution for small and mid-sized organisations that automates and streamlines business processes and helps companies manage their business. Highly adaptable and rich with features, Business Central enables companies to manage finance, manufacturing, sales, shipping, project management, services, and more. Companies can easily add functionality that is relevant to the region of operation, and that is customised to support even highly specialised industries.

Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement is a collection of applications built on the Power Platform that can be used individually or together, with add-in applications and solutions, and an extensible model to allow businesses to make their own apps from the ground up or customise first-party applications. This learning material will focus on the Customer Engagement platform.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations is a full suite of offerings covering many needs, including financial management, supply chain optimization and human resource management. This suite also offers deep analytics and intelligence from this data.

Dynamics 365 for Retail provides mid-market and large retailers with a complete head office and point of sale (POS) solution that includes support for online and brick-and-mortar stores. It can help retailers increase financial returns, improve service, manage growth, reach customers and streamline efficiencies.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Talent streamlines many routine recordkeeping tasks and automates a number of processes related to staffing your organisation. These processes include employee retention, benefits administration, training, performance reviews and change management. It also provides a framework for human resources staff to manage areas of oversight.

Dynamics 365 AI for Customer Service Insights, Dynamics 365 AI for Market Insights and Dynamics 365 AI for Sales offer actionable insights into critical performance metrics, operational data and emerging trends from your system. Built-in dashboards, interactive charts, and visual filters provide views into support operations data across channels and highlight areas for improvement that can have the greatest impact.

Dynamics mixed reality apps, Dynamics 365 Layout and Dynamics 365 Remote Assist, bring next-level experiences to business. With Layout, companies bring physical designs from concept to completion with confidence, importing 3D models as holograms to share with stakeholders. Remote assist works with HoloLens and using video calling, can directly guide a field technician on a remote site guided by an expert at a different location entirely.

As previously mentioned, Dynamics for Customer Engagement includes a collection of several first-party applications. These applications offer great business value and engagement individually. Often, more than one application is implemented by a business to provide even better value. For example, an organisation might use Sales for opportunity management and Field Service for dispatching technicians to service the product purchased while under warranty.

Dynamics 365 for Sales enables salespeople to build strong relationships with their customers, take actions based on insights and close sales faster. Use Dynamics 365 for Sales to keep track of your accounts and contacts, nurture your sales from lead to order, create sales collateral, create marketing lists and campaigns, and even follow service cases associated with specific accounts or opportunities.

Dynamics 365 for Marketing is a marketing-automation application that helps turn prospects into business relationships. The app is easy to use, works seamlessly with Dynamics 365 for Sales and has built-in business intelligence.

Dynamics 365 for Customer Service allows you to earn customers for life. Build great customer relationships by focusing on optimum customer satisfaction with the Customer Service apps. Customer Service provides many features and tools that organisations can use to manage the services they provide to customers.

Dynamics 365 for Field Service business application helps organisations deliver onsite service to customer locations. The application combines workflow automation, scheduling algorithms and mobility to set mobile workers up for success when they’re onsite with customers fixing issues.

Dynamics 365 for Project Service Automation app helps organisations efficiently track, manage and deliver project-based services, from the initial sale all the way to invoicing.

Add-In Solutions and Apps

In addition to the business apps already mentioned, there are several add-in solutions available. You can directly add these into your Dynamics tenant and supplement the business solutions you’ve already implemented. Solutions such as Gamification, Portals and Insights, by Inside View, are just a few offered.

More information on all of these offered and more can be found here: Microsoft Dynamic 365.
