Activity Summary

Microsoft Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform

In the last few steps, we uncovered Personal Power BI. Now, let’s summarize what we learned in this activity on Building Model-Driven Applications.

What do we know about Model driven apps?

Model-driven apps:

  • require a CDS database and are built on top of the data that is modelled in that specific database instance
  • they are data-driven and have consistent navigation, data interaction, and tools materialise views and detail screens based on the data structure.

With our App Designer you can build your user’s experience with a simple drag and drop interface. The SiteMap will also define the navigation for this model-driven app and we can also build it with the simple drag and drop builder available here.

With Configure Forms you are able to set up forms for both knowledge assessments and knowledge questions. You are able to review form types and elements as well as add specialised form components.

In the Configure Views, you are able to change the view types and use editable grids with both system-level views and subgrids on main entity forms.

Configure Charts offers you a great chance to see your data in action. With drill-down capabilities and responsive grid views, users have direct and quick access to their day to day data.

Lastly configuring Reporting allows you to set up reports with many out of the box reports and a report wizard.

These tools all assist in getting the application up and running quickly and can provide a great user experience.
