Wrap up of week 1

Round off and summarize week 1 of collaboration in theory.

Congratulations, you’ve reached the end of Week 1.

In this week we reminded ourselves of the wonderful creative work that collaboration can create, and the behind-the-scenes leg-work needed to achieve this. Being purposeful about how we approach collaboration is key to its success.

We covered:

1. The Shapes of Collaboration

  • The common forms collaboration takes in the creative industry (partnership, team and client)
  • How you currently collaborate

2. Me and We

  • The soft skills you need to be an effective collaborator
  • Mapping yours and your teams hard skills
  • How to kick-off teamwork, and then to ensure it stays on track
  • Why diversity of thought is essential, and how to achieve it

3. Team Tactics

  • How to protect the physiological safety of your team
  • Achieving successful collaboration when remote working
  • Codes-of-conduct for your collaborators

Share in the comments below one thing that has stood out from this week, and one action that you will start doing immediately with your collaborators.

Next week we look at the realities and practicalities of collaboration in action, and what to do when things don’t go to plan.

See you in week 2.
