In this activity, we set the stage for the rest of this course. We learnt about the core functionality available in Dynamics 365 for Sales that will allow us to drill into the details of configuring and using Dynamics 365 for Sales as you progress through these activities.

Dynamics 365 for Sales offers a rich set of tools to build relationships with customers and potential customers. It has the capability to model sales processes and using the sales AI functionality to get actionable insights on the health of those relationships.

We discussed the concept of a customer. And that customer can either be an account or a contact or both depending on your exact business scenario. Leads are a potential sale, very lightweight, and once they are qualified, they can lead to an opportunity.

We also reviewed some of the navigation and the unified interface of the sales hub. We have core entities for sales. We see a few of them here. Items such as quotes, orders, invoices, as well as products in our product catalogue are all things that we discussed.

So, our sales process is something that can be modelled custom or used out of the box. We have processes, such as lead to cash or a process that might include prospecting, research, targeting, and then closing that sales opportunity. We have automation choices when it comes to Dynamics 365 for Sales.

We’ve got business process flows or a BPF and how they can be used to model a sales process, including stages and steps to enable staff to follow your business sales process. And that business process flow can be managed and customised using a single drag and drop interface.

We have some configuration options available to us, setting our revenue types, our fiscal years, managing multiple currencies, all of those available to us within Dynamics 365 for Sales.

We discussed Canvas apps and how using Canvas apps along with our model-driven apps, we can have even more power and more customisation options available to our users.
