Introduction to traffic simulation tools
Welcome to this unit! In this video, Conrad introduces you to the world of traffic simulation tools, a vital component in traffic engineering. These tools, known as micro-simulation tools, use mathematical models to test, appraise, and visualise complex traffic and pedestrian concepts virtually.
Conrad will explain the key differences between micro-simulation (agent-based) and macro-simulation (link, node, and zone-based) models and explore the many applications of traffic simulation. By the end of this video, you’ll understand how traffic simulations help improve engineering designs without disrupting real-world traffic flow.
