Pre-diabetes is not a type of diabetes but it is important to be aware of it in order to to prevent diabetes from occurring. Generally people will show no signs of illness.

An individual can be diagnosed as a pre-diabetic if their blood glucose is high but not high enough to be considered diabetic. It is still a serious problem. If an individual becomes pre-diabetic, not only are their chances of becoming a diabetic is higher, the risk of cardiovascular disease also increases – in fact it doubles!! So its is very important that we know what is going on inside our bodies.

In the upcoming weeks Nicola will show you how you can be tested for prediabetes and she will also look at some of the risk factors which can be modified to help get you off the diabetes path.
