Summing up, reflecting and looking ahead

Summing up, reflecting and looking ahead
This week you learned about the difficulties students with dyslexia might face when learning new words and grammatical constructions.

You watched students talk about the challenges they have experienced and the ways they have coped with these. We also showed you sample task designs and further ideas for teaching vocabulary and grammar using the principles of the multisensory structured learning approach.

You also had the opportunity to design tasks that you have developed, and we hope that you will be able to adapt the activities you saw this week in your teaching contexts.

Next week we will focus on two areas that are particularly important for enhancing the literacy skills of students with dyslexia and specific learning differences more broadly: phonological awareness and reading comprehension.

You will watch a video lecture with one of our experts, an interview with a researcher on reading difficulties and demonstrations of tasks for teaching spelling and pronunciation.

There will be readings as usual and opportunities for discussion and sharing experiences.
