Introduction to Week 2

What's coming up in this week's material? In this article Becky Taylor introduces the topics we'll cover.
In the first week of the course we looked at perspectives on teacher expertise and teacher learning. In this second week of the course, we will be looking at implementing the Early Career Framework (ECF). We will explore some of the likely questions that will need to be addressed, and logistical challenges overcome, so that the you can implement the ECF smoothly in your school or setting.

In Week 2 we will be exploring:

  • Planning for the Early Career Framework
  • Embedding quality provision of the Early Career Framework.

This week’s activities will be structured around Putting Evidence to Work – A School’s Guide to Implementation, the Education Endowment Foundation’s guidance on implementation.

The EEF guidance breaks implementation into four stages:

  • Explore
  • Prepare
  • Deliver
  • Sustain

Our focus will be on the explore, prepare and deliver stages of implementation, as sustain was not in the scope of the pilot evaluations.

Explore
We will start by considering how to choose a programme for your school context.

Prepare
We will look at the process of writing an implementation plan and consider some of the important elements to include.

Deliver
We will consider ways that you can ensure the success of the programme during delivery.
