Back in the village

Learn about policy-related solutions with our educator team both onsite on Utö and online from Glasgow.

After lunch at the children’s beach, we spend some time with Associate Professor Gudrun Zagel from Salzburg University. We discuss the roles of climate law and policy in guiding solutions to the climate crisis.

On our walk back towards the village, we stop at a marine protected area. Here we meet Anne Cadoret, Senior Lecturer at Aix Marseille University. She uses the marine protected area as a case study of how policy can be used to guide solutions.

Back in the village, we connect live to Glasgow University. After a brief introduction to “counting carbon” as a tool for making climate policies accountable by Alasdair Skelton, Professor at Stockholm University, we meet with Professor Giola Falcone, who explains how assess the real carbon footprint of a product and service using an approach called “life cycle analysis.”

Our final session is with Ria Dunkley, Senior Lecture at Glasgow University. She reflects on the role of behavioral change as a way of getting from climate policy to climate action.
