Using existing datasets to help train models

Transferring from existing data

Sometimes we can find existing, free-to-use datasets in a close enough domain that we can use this resource to “pre-train” our model, before refining it with data from our smaller dataset. This transfer learning process is discussed in this video.

As an example, here is a collection of plant phenotyping image datasets from the Quantitative Plant website:
