Welcome to week 1

Introduction to the fist week of the course
5
Welcome to week one. I’m Ana Filipe, and I am the head of CVR (Centre for Virus Research) Genomics Facility at the MRC University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research where I lead the CVR genomics team implementing sequencing solutions applied to viruses. My name is Rogers Kamulegeya. I am the coordinator of the Integrated Biorepository of H3Africa, Uganda and a teaching assistant of molecular biology at Makere University in Uganda. This week, we are going to explore what happens to a sample from the swab collection until uploading the sequencing data on a server. You will learn the differences between the main SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic tests and how professionals overcome the challenges of implementing large-scale testing in the middle of a public health emergency.
