Professor Mark Wuddivira, Dean at The UWI

Professor Mark Wuddivira, Faculty of Food and Agriculture, The UWI, showcases GTA programming, and the commitment to achieving SDGs 2, 5, and 13.

Professor Mark Wuddivira is the Dean of the Faculty of Food and Agriculture (FFA) at The University of the West Indies (The UWI), Saint Augustine Campus in Trinidad and Tobago. He demonstrates the commitment of the FFA to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2, 5 and 13. He reminds us of the focus of each SDG, and in the context of contemporary health challenges in the Caribbean region, asserts the importance of gendered analysis at all levels of the food system to respond to serious food-related public health issues.

In its over 100-year history, the FFA has conducted research and training to build regional capacity, and Professor Wuddivira highlights its most recent projects and programs which, through strategic partnerships, address food security, climate change and gender justice.

Critically, he identifies a partnership with WorldFish through which they are working to transform aquatic food systems. We will explore more about the work of WorldFish later this week.
