Welcome to Week 2

Welcome to Week 2

This week, you will learn about different ways of thinking and alternative modes of organising (including organising yourself into teams!).

We’ll start by exploring the ideas of Audre Lorde, who conceptualised the problem of ‘the master’s tools’. These are the established methods that might not account for diversity, and thus trap us in cycles that don’t bring about real change.

From there, we’ll look for alternatives. Our search, takes us back to the thinking of Yunkaporta and complexity, and then through examples in Melbourne, Brasília and Manhattan (with a stopover in Yemen).

While the answers might not be entirely clear, the alternative modes of organising we cover towards the end of the week offer models and tools to collaborate in ways that enable consensus, navigate conflict and spark change.
