Welcome to week 2!
What we covered in Week 1
By the end of Week 1, you should have been feeling more confident about what an SME is and how they differ from large employers, gaining a better understanding of the skills and strengths that they might value. You also considered the hybrid working environment and how you could thrive while working remotely. Of course, as well as being adopted by many SMEs, hybrid working is also something that a significant number of large employers have embraced so this should have been useful whatever your career path.
Before we dive into this week’s learning – take a few minutes to reflect on what you learned in Week 1. For example, you could consider your responses to some of the reflective exercises and look back at your comments about what you found useful or would still like to learn. This should help you to focus on the sections of this week that will be of particular value to you.
At the end of Week 1, there was a bit of homework to help to prepare you for this week and keep you thinking. You were asked to reflect on whether working for an SME employer felt like a positive or negative option for you so far, and consider what you might still need to know to make your decision clearer.
