The College of Public Health at Taipei Medical University

The College of Public Health was founded in 2000, and currently comprises of one school, one graduate institute, one all-English Master’s degree program and two research centers, including School of Public Health, Graduate Institute of Injury Prevention and Control, Master’s Program in Global Health and Development. The college focuses on preventive medicine and basic research in the development of academics, and plays a think tank role along with the two research centers to improve the quality of medical care and to provide evidence-based support for government policy-making.

As Taiwan’s public health education leader, the college excels in providing health education and training, research and practice opportunities for students from Taiwan and around the world. In the early years, college brought together public health and established nation’s first Graduate Institute of Injury Prevention and Control in 2000. To encompass the value of total care, the college established Health Policy and Care Research Center in 2011 to address issues such as Taiwan’s aging society, medical resources allocation, and gender and health inequalitie.

The Health and Clinical Research Data Center was established in 2012 to conduct value-added analysis for large-scale databases of the nation, such as the national health insurance database, cancer registry, death registry and large-scale health survey databases. Beyond helping teachers and medical personnel at the university and its three affiliated hospitals to publish high-quality, high-value academic papers, it presents clinical observations using evidence-based data to improve the quality of medical care, to develop policy translation and to play a think tank role along with the Health Policy and Care Research Center.
