You’ve almost reached the end of the course. In the next Step, you’ll find a comprehensive list of websites and further reading, but let’s first recap what we’ve covered.

In the first week you explored practical ways of structuring the day and discussed healthy habits around sleeping, eating, exercise, connecting with others and having fun. We also discussed the importance of modelling and self-care in helping to support others. We recommended putting ‘appointments’ into a diary each evening or creating a list of the activities to do the following day in this planner. We hope you found this exercise useful and will continue to come back to it over the coming weeks.

This week we’ve been focusing on practical techniques to deal with some of the more difficult thoughts and emotions that you may have been experiencing. These include finding ways to accept and allow what is, mindfulness techniques to live in the ‘here and now’ and taking steps to reduce rumination. We touched upon how changing the way we think can have a positive impact on how we feel. You then looked at simple techniques to help communication and problem solving, and ended by reflecting on what you are learning about yourself and your way of coping in the current crisis, and how you may be able to take this forward

We’ll leave you with a personal note from Monika, Faith and Michelle.

“We really hope that you have enjoyed the course and that you are able to take something away from the activities that will help to support you and those around you. It has been our pleasure to explore and discuss these topics with you over the past few weeks. We wish you and your family all the very best and take good care of yourselves and each other”
