A circular economy

The term circular economy is often used with reference to sustainability, but what does it actually mean?

“The circular economy is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. In this way, the life cycle of products is extended”.

A true circular economy does not include plastics and all materials are natural.

The European parliament has created a short video explaining the difference between a circular economy and the linear one we currently have.


Progress?!

On the 1st October 2023 the UK banned all single use plastic This ban is progress, but is limited to plastic cutlery, polystyrene cups and trays and plastic balloon sticks.

Is this progress?!

Maybe, maybe not, but at least it is a step (even though it’s a baby step) in the right direction.
