Are you Interested in becoming a web developer? Do you want to know more about what web developers do and what skills you might need to get into a web development? You are in the right place! This short course will reveal what web developers do and how you can start thinking about the steps you need to take on your new career path.

Throughout this course, you’ll be finding out more about what a career in web development might look like, learning about some of the technologies which underpin web development, and learning how you can start your own career in web development.

How the course will work

  • The course is divided into two weeks.
  • Each week there will be two activities, with a range of different tasks for you to complete at your own pace.
  • The course is not facilitated, but is designed to support peer learning through online discussions.
  • There will be a range of quizzes, reading sections, videos, and chances for you to discuss questions with other learners; this can be a great way of getting different viewpoints and ideas, so do use these chances to network with your peers and share your ideas!
  • Finally, you will take the assignment at the end to earn your certificate. The pass mark is 70% and you will also have to complete 90% of the steps in the course in order to gain your certificate.

  • Discuss how to keep data secure
  • Describe what IP is and how copyright works
  • Explain how to make a website more accessible
  • Explain what a portfolio is used for in the recruitment process
  • Assess whether web development is a good career choice for you.
