Language points

The usage of 在

1. it can be used to indicate the place or location.

E.g. 在北京，在学校. 我在北京学习。他在学校工作。

1. 在……呢 to indicate the action in progress, at present or in the past..

E.g. 我在看电视呢。昨天上午我在看书呢。

Sometime we can just use “在” or “呢” independently for short. Such as 我在看电视。我看书呢。

The negative forms of 在in these two situations are also different.

For indicating the place, we use 不, 不在北京，不在学校

For indicating the action in progress, we use 没，我没在看电视，pay attention , here“呢”can’t be used at the end of a negative sentence.
