Language points

Question which is end with “吧” makes the question with the meaning of estimation or prediction.

Compare the following question.

您 是 李 先生 吗?Nín shì Lǐ xiānsheng ma?

您 是 李 先生 吧?Nín shì Lǐ xiānsheng ba?

The first one is just asking whether you are Mr. Li. And for the second question, the person has already guessed you are Mr. Li and wants to confirm.
