The “比”sentence

A 比 B + adj means A is more … than B

老 师 比 学生 高 。Lǎoshī bǐ xuésheng gāo.

明天 比 今天 热。Míngtiān bǐ jīntiān rè.

这个 商店 的 苹果 比 那个 商店 的 苹果 贵。Zhège shāngdiàn de píngguǒ bǐ nàge shāngdiàn de píngguǒ guì.

the same part of A and B can be omitted in the latter one, like:

这个 商店 的 苹果 比 那个 商店 的 贵。Zhège shāngdiàn de píngguǒ bǐ nàge shāngdiàn de guì.

The negative form: A 没有B + adj A is not as … as B

学生 没有 老师 高 。Xuésheng méiyǒu lǎoshī gāo.

今天 没有 明天 热。Jīntiān méiyǒu míngtiān rè.

这个 商店 的 苹果 没有 那个 商店 的 贵。Zhège shāngdiàn de píngguǒ méiyǒu nàge shāngdiàn de guì.

If you want to specify the difference between A and B, a specific number can be used after the adjective. The structure is:

A 比B + adj + numeral phrase A is … more than B

姐姐20岁，我18岁。Jiějie suì, wǒ suì.

姐姐 比 我 大 两 岁。Jiějie bǐ wǒ dà liǎng suì.

这个西瓜23块，那个西瓜20块。Zhège xīguā 23kuài, nàge xīguā 23kuài.

这个西瓜 比 那个 贵 三 块 。Zhège xīguā bǐ nàge guì sān kuài qián.
