New words

得 de part. used after a verb to introduce a complement of result or degree.

Language points

Particle word “得” used as the complement

S+V+得+adj

她睡得很好。Tā shuì de hĕn hǎo

In the negative form we put不 before the adj

她睡得不晚。

And if the degree is not that much, you can also use 不太 before the adjective, like

她睡得不太晚。

Dialogue 1

A: 你每天早上几点起床?Nǐ měi tiān zǎoshang jǐ diǎn qǐ chuáng ?

When do you get up every morning?

B: 六点多。 Liù diǎn duō.

A few minutes past six.

A: 你比我早起一个小时。Nǐ bǐ wǒ zǎo qǐ yí gè xiǎoshí.

You get up one hour earlier than I do.

B: 我睡得也早,我每天晚上十点就睡觉。早睡早起身体好。Wǒ shuì de yě zǎo,wǒ měi tiān wǎnshang shí diǎn jiù shuì jiào. Zǎo shuì zǎo qǐ shēntǐ hǎo.

I go to bed early also, at 10 o’clock every night. It’s healthy to keep early hours.

A: 你每天早上几点起床?

B: 六点多。

A: 你比我早起一个小时。

B: 我睡得也早,我每天晚上十点就睡觉。早睡早起身体好。
