A：今天是12月20日，新年就要到了。Jīntiān shì shíèryuè èrshí rì, xīnnián jiù yào dàole.

Today is Decemeber 20th. The New Year is coming.

B：新年你准备做什么？Xīnnián nǐ zhǔnbèi zuò shénme ？

What plan do you have?

A：我想去北京旅游，北京很不错，我去过一次。 Wǒ xiǎnɡ qù Běi jīnɡ lǚyóu ，Běijīnɡ hěn búcuò，wǒ qùɡuò yí cì。

I want to take a trip to Beijing. Beijing is a nice place. I’ve been there once.

B：你买票了吗？Nǐ mǎi piào le mɑ ？

Have you bought the ticket?

A：还没有呢，明天就去火车站买票。 Hái méiyǒu ne, mínɡtiān jiù qù huǒchēzhàn mǎi piào.

Not yet. I’ll go to the railway station to buy it tomorrow.

Homework

Today we have learnt the sentence structure“要……了” which means something is going to happen.

新年要到了。

If there is no adverbial of time, you can use “就要/快要/快/要……了”. But if there is an adverbial of time in the sentence, you can only use “就要……了” . For example:

大卫快要回国了。

下个月大卫就要回国了。
