Today we are going to discuss how to use the structure 一点儿 + 也/都 + 不 + adj. indicates complete negation。

Language points

我一点儿也不着急。The structure 一点儿 + 也/都 + 不 + adj. indicates complete negation。

For example:

我不饿。I’m not hungry.

我一点儿也不饿。I’m not hungry at all.

她不忙。She’s not busy.

她一点儿都不忙。She’s not busy at all.

Sometimes the“一点儿” can be replaced by“一 + measure word + noun”

For example: 一个苹果,一件衣服,一杯茶

我不想吃苹果。

我(一个苹果)也不(想吃)。

她没买衣服。

她(一件衣服)也没(买)。

小丽没喝茶就走了。

小丽(一杯茶)也没(喝)就走了。

“那”used as a proper noun, means that. 那 the opposite word is 这

that one那个——this one这个; there 那儿——here这儿

In Spoken Chinese,“那”can also be used as a conjunction to indicate the result obtained or judgment made based on what has been said previously.

For example:

A:周末我不想去看电影。

B:那你打算做什么?

A:家里没有牛奶了。

B:那我们去商店买点儿吧。

儿子:都写完了。

妈妈:明天不是有考试吗?你怎么一点儿也不着急?
