How to express a period of time in Chinese 时段的表达

Language points

A period of time refers to the length of time that an action or state lasts, usually indicated by a complement of duration, for example: 四年、两天、五个月、三个小时。

To Express a period of Time. 在句子中这些词要放在动词的后面：

S +V+了+Duration

For example：

我工作了四年。

他在北京住了两天。

如果动词后有宾语，宾语要放在时间段的后面

S +V+了+Duration +O

For example：

大卫学了五个月汉语。

她看了三个小时书。

Please note if the object is 你、我、他，要放在时间段的前面。

For example：

我等了他半个小时。

小刚：那是小丽。

同事：她刚来北京吗？

小刚：不，她在北京工作三年了。

同事：以前她在哪儿工作？

小刚：她在银行工作了两年以后来的我们公司。
