How to express a period of time in Chinese 时段的表达

In dialogue 1 we are going to learn how to introduce new colleague and how to express a period of time in Chinese.

Language points

A period of time refers to the length of time that an action or state lasts, usually indicated by a complement of duration, for example: 四年、两天、五个月、三个小时。

To Express a period of Time. 在句子中这些词要放在动词的后面:

S +V+了+Duration

For example:

我工作了四年。

他在北京住了两天。

如果动词后有宾语,宾语要放在时间段的后面

S +V+了+Duration +O

For example:

大卫学了五个月汉语。

她看了三个小时书。

Please note if the object is 你、我、他,要放在时间段的前面。

For example:

我等了他半个小时。

Dialogue 1

同事:那个漂亮的新同事是谁?

小刚:那是小丽。

同事:她刚来北京吗?

小刚:不,她在北京工作三年了。

同事:以前她在哪儿工作?

小刚:她在银行工作了两年以后来的我们公司。

Let’s answer the questions according to the dialogue.

小丽是谁?

小丽刚来北京吗?

好,下面你能用你的话说一遍对话吗?

那个漂亮的新同事是小丽。她在北京工作三年了。以前小丽在银行工作,她在银行工作了两年以后来的我们公司。
