The Ba-Sentence structure 把字句

In Chinese, a Ba-Sentence can be used to indicate a certain action done on a definite person or thing, the sentence structure is “A把B+v.+了”. This type of Ba-Sentence is often used to request or order other people to do something.

For example:

Situation 1: 飞机要起飞（to take off）了，工作人员让大家关手机，她会说： 请把手机关了。

Situation 2: 儿子回到家，妈妈让他洗手，妈妈可以说：快把手洗了。

Situation 3: 丈夫生病了，妻子让他吃饭前吃药，她可以说：先把药吃了。

If there is a modal verb or a negative adverb etc., it should precede “把”. For example:

你可以把灯关了吗？

我还没把这本书还了。

小明：我先走了。

同学：你去哪儿？

小明：我去图书馆借本书。

同学：帮我把这本词典还了吧。

小明：好，等一会儿你离开教室的时候，记得把灯关了。
